Eric Dane on His Battle With Depression: ‘This Just Hit Me Like a Truck’

On Today’s Take, actor Eric Dane opened up about his recent battle with depression. In April, TNT announced it would postpone production of The Last Ship, so Dane could deal with his depression.

While co-hosting Today’s Take, Dane told Jenna Bush Hager, “I took some time off. I was dealing with some depression, which was kind of odd. I felt very conflicted about it because I didn’t feel like I had anything to be depressed about.”

The actor, who also played “McSteamy” on Grey’s Anatomy, shared the importance of mental health, saying, “You’ve got to listen to your body. It’s a very serious thing.”

Dane explained that he’s dealt with depression throughout his life. He said, “But this just hit me me like a truck.”

Luckily, he got the medical attention that he needed and is now doing “great.”
