Ex-Ohio State RB Bri'Onte Dunn reportedly charged with rape
Former Ohio State running back Bri’Onte Dunn is facing serious charges in Columbus.
Dunn has reportedly been charged with rape and kidnapping stemming from an alleged August incident. Per Columbus NBC affiliate WCMH-TV, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Aug. 20.
According to Columbus Police reports, Dunn asked the victim for a ride home on Aug. 20, 2017 around 4:15am. She picked him up and drove to her residence against his wishes. She told police she got into bed and Dunn got in with her 15 minutes later. The victim says Dunn began pulling her nightgown down, grabbing her and kissing her, though she told him to stop. She says he forced her to have sex with him three times and held her down, even though she told him to stop and tried to push him off.
This is not Dunn’s first run-in with law enforcement. In July 2016, Dunn was dismissed from the Ohio State team after an altercation with his girlfriend. He was charged with domestic violence and assault in August 2016 after the woman alleged Dunn struck her in the mouth and choked her the previous month.
Per the Associated Press, Dunn pleaded no contest to the assault charge in February and was given two years’ probation. The domestic violence charge was dropped under the terms of a plea agreement. Dunn was ordered to stay away from the woman while on probation.
The 2016 season would have been Dunn’s final season of eligibility with the Buckeyes. He and freshman Mike Weber were competing for the starting role in spring practice before Dunn’s dismissal. During his time with the Buckeyes, Dunn rushed for 287 yards and three touchdowns on 48 carries.
