WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - July 29, 2013) - IranNewsUpdate.com - Today, Iran News Update is releasing the first in a series of 13 exclusive video interviews with international influencers and politicians regarding the newly elected Iranian president, Hassan Rowhani. These interviews come in response to the upcoming presidential inauguration on August 4, 2013. Dignitaries from around the world discuss the potential impact, or lack thereof, the new president will have on Iran and its people.
INU will be releasing at least two of 13 videos everyday starting today, leading up to Sunday's inauguration. The interviews touch on a variety of topics, including nuclear policy, human rights and democracy in Iran.
On June 14, 2013 the Iranian people elected Rowhani -- a high ranking official of the regime throughout the last three decades -- as president. Many western media outlets and reports have suggested that Rowhani is a moderate and will help establish a democratic Iran. Prior to Rowhani's election he served as the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and worked extensively on Iran's nuclear program. In 2003, Rowhani became Iran's lead nuclear negotiator. Iran's presidential election was deemed highly controversial when only eight candidates were approved to run for office by the Supreme Leader from a pool of more than 680 candidates.
INU conducted interviews with high ranking officials and dignitaries including Newt Gingrich, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, Patrick Kennedy, Rudy Giuliani, Tom Ridge, Representative William Lacey Clay, Ed Rendell, Francis Townsend, Porter Goss, Ingrid Betancourt, Robert Torricelli, Gen. George Casey and James Jones in response to the recent election and the upcoming inauguration.
Patrick Kennedy, a long time supporter of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), has been very vocal on his position regarding the Rowhani's potential impact on Iran. "President Rowhani is nothing but the same type of ruler that Ahmadinejad was, except he has a smile on his face. So we assume that he represents something different, but all we need to do is look at who selected him. Komani and the Mullahs selected him," Kennedy responded to the newly elected president.
