SEATTLE (AP) _ Expedia Inc. (EXPE) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $76 million.
On a per-share basis, the Seattle-based company said it had net income of 52 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.24 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.18 per share.
The online travel company posted revenue of $2.75 billion in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.76 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $565 million, or $3.77 per share. Revenue was reported as $12.07 billion.
Expedia shares have climbed slightly more than 2% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen slightly more than 4%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $110.59, a decrease of 13% in the last 12 months.
