Faith Hill and Tim McGraw Star in New ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel Series—Check Out the Gripping ‘1883’ Trailer Here
The Paramount TV series Yellowstone has quickly become a runaway success, smashing viewing records for cable and becoming one of the most-viewed series that air on live TV. While the Western drama hasn't been officially renewed for a fifth season, Yellowstone fans still have a reason to celebrate, because a prequel series, titled 1883, will be dropping on Paramount+ on December 19 for streaming.
1883 will not feature the regular cast members of Yellowstone , like Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes and Kelly Reilly. Instead, the prequel series will follow the lives of their characters' ancestors in the 19th century, with the lead roles being filled by Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Sam Elliott. (And yes, we are super excited to see the real-life couple of McGraw and Hill play husband and wife on the series). The show will follow these past members of the Dutton family as they travel to Montana to settle down and build a life for themselves.
“My family's meetin' me here tonight and we're headin' north,” McGraw says in the trailer. “And we'll keep headin' north 'till I find a country that's worth the journey.”
But as we see in the clip, this journey will not be quite as easy for the family as they may have hoped. And the road to Montana will end up being paved in blood.
1883 is being labeled as a “Yellowstone origin story” and it was written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, who also acted as a creator, writer, director and producer on Yellowstone. Alongside Elliott, McGraw and Hill, the show will also star Isabel May, LaMonica Garrett, Audie Rick, Marc Rissmann, Eric Nelsen, James Landry Hébert and more.
December 19 can't come fast enough.
