Fan crashes performances during PyeongChang Opening Ceremony

There was a bit of a security lapse during Friday’s Opening Ceremony for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

A fan crashed the performances during the show. He appeared behind a performer during the singing of a song. The performer’s composure was insanely good, as you can see in the picture below.

The fan then walked up to some dancers and did some sightseeing.

Not long after he saw the dancers, he was apprehended by security and escorted off the stage.

According to Channel News Asia, he had a pretty dramatic entrance too.

The unwanted guest made a daring entrance, sliding down a long icy chute forming the backdrop to a stage to reach the performers before being wrestled out by security officials.

The invasion came just after the two Koreas had marched into the stadium behind the blue-and-white unification flag, possibly indicating the stunt was politically motivated.

At the time of the posting of the CNA article, the fan had not been arrested for his conduct. NBC showed the fan’s escapades at the end of its Opening Ceremony broadcast. His appearance on the stage was the biggest downside to Friday’s Opening Ceremony. Given it was, we’d consider the event a rousing success.
