Fifth Harmony split up to pursue solo projects

Fifth Harmony, the girl group made during the 2012 season of the US version of X Factor have split up, according to an official statement.

While it’s not totally clear if this is the absolute end for the now four-piece band, it does indicate that the group are going off to pursue their own individual dreams and pushing the group interest to the back of their minds.

The group. made up of Ally Brooke, 24, Normani, 21, Dinah Jane, 20, and Lauren Jauregui, 21, shared this statement from their Twitter account.

‘Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X Factor, we’ve realised just how far we’ve come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever.

‘We’ve had one hell of a memorable journey together and can’t begin to express our gratitude to y’all for coming along with us on this wild journey.

They added: ‘After six years going hard, non stop, we realise that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and you, we need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue sole endeavours.

‘We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find out footing as individuals,’ they expressed.

They spoke of gaining ‘new experiences, strengths and perspectives,’ with the solo ventures they’re about to embark on.

The statement also thanked Harmonizers for their ‘love and encouragement’ along the way.

Having formed in 2012 during the reality television show, the band were originally made up of five members – Camila Cabello, 21, leaving in 2016 to pursue a solo singing career. Since then, she’s enjoyed global success and is known for Crying in the Club and her biggest hit Havana which eventually reached the Number 1 spot in the UK charts and enjoyed a a peak position of Number 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
