Building up an investment case requires looking at a stock holistically. Today I've chosen to put the spotlight on Finsbury Food Group Plc (LON:FIF) due to its excellent fundamentals in more than one area. FIF is a financially-healthy company with an impressive history superior dividend payments, trading at a great value. Below is a brief commentary on these key aspects. For those interested in digging a bit deeper into my commentary, read the full report on Finsbury Food Group here.
Very undervalued with adequate balance sheet and pays a dividend
FIF is financially robust, with ample cash on hand and short-term investments to meet upcoming liabilities. This indicates that FIF has sufficient cash flows and proper cash management in place, which is a key determinant of the company’s health. FIF seems to have put its debt to good use, generating operating cash levels of 0.29x total debt in the most recent year. This is also a good indication as to whether debt is properly covered by the company’s cash flows. FIF's shares are now trading at a price below its true value based on its discounted cash flows, indicating a relatively pessimistic market sentiment. This mispricing gives investors the opportunity to buy into the stock at a cheap price compared to the value they will be receiving, should analysts' consensus forecast growth be correct. Compared to the rest of the food, beverage & tobacco industry, FIF is also trading below its peers, relative to earnings generated. This supports the theory that FIF is potentially underpriced.
Income investors would also be happy to know that FIF is a great dividend company, with a current yield standing at 4.6%. FIF has also been regularly increasing its dividend payments to shareholders over the past decade.
