MILPITAS, Calif. (AP) _ FireEye Inc. (FEYE) on Wednesday reported a loss of $49.2 million in its fourth quarter.
The Milpitas, California-based company said it had a loss of 23 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 7 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 4 cents per share.
The computer security software company posted revenue of $235.1 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $226.4 million.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $257.4 million, or $1.24 per share. Revenue was reported as $889.2 million.
For the current quarter ending in April, FireEye expects its results to range from a loss of 5 cents per share to a loss of 3 cents per share.
The company said it expects revenue in the range of $222 million to $226 million for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $223.2 million.
FireEye expects full-year earnings in the range of 20 cents to 24 cents per share, with revenue ranging from $935 million to $945 million.
FireEye shares have decreased 3% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $16, a fall of 13% in the last 12 months.
