First lady Melania Trump tweets about first year in White House without President Trump
Melania Trump marked the first anniversary of her beginning the job of first lady by sharing a photo on Saturday, raising eyebrows for the person she failed to mention or include in the initial post.
"This has been a year filled with many wonderful moments. I’ve enjoyed the people I’ve been lucky enough to meet throughout our great country & the world,” she said in the message posted to Twitter.
The tweet included an image from Inauguration Day 2017, which showed her smiling broadly while being escorted by a military member.
The photo drew a lot of feedback from users on Twitter, including some who pointed out that the president was missing from the image.
“You look happier with him than your husband,” said one user.
“I love your subtle messages. Someone is missing in this picture but I just can’t place who that is…@realDonaldTrump,” another said.
But while some of the reactions were negative any critical, she also received an outpouring of celebration from supporters as well.
"We are blessed to have a beautiful and smart lady to represent our country beside the BEST president ever," the top reply read.
“Thank you for representing America with dignity & grace," another said.
Melania Trump has broken from her predecessors in a handful of small, but key ways during her first year in audience -- most notably having an extremely small staff relative to both Michelle Obama and Laura Bush.
Her relationship with the president has also been under intense scrutiny, with rampant rumors and some of their body language suggesting the two may have trouble.
The president's anniversary tweets largely focused on the government shutdown, which continues into Monday morning with no specific end in sight.
"This is the One Year Anniversary of my Presidency and the Democrats wanted to give me a nice present," he wrote in one of his tweets.
