VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ First Majestic Silver Corp. (AG) on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $5.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had net income of 3 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 3 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 4 cents per share.

The silver miner posted revenue of $88.5 million in the period.

First Majestic shares have dropped 16 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 17 percent in the last 12 months.
