Florida snags No. 2 dual-threat QB Emory Jones
New Florida coach Dan Mullen might have signed the Gators’ quarterback of the future just weeks after becoming the team’s head coach.
Four-star quarterback Emory Jones signed with Florida on Wednesday. Jones is the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the country according to Rivals and the No. 27 prospect overall.

As many Gator fans can attest, stability at the quarterback position has long been an issue for the Gators. Luke Del Rio, Feleipe Franks and Malik Zaire all saw time at quarterback for the Gators in 2017.
Neither seized the job either. And Franks is the only quarterback from the group returning to the team. Zaire was a senior graduate transfer from Notre Dame and Del Rio said he’s ending his football career after multiple shoulder injuries.
Franks, a redshirt freshman in 2017, was 125-229 passing for 1,438 yards, nine touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Jones was previously a verbal commit to Ohio State. He also visited Alabama and Florida State. He projects to fit well in Mullen’s offensive schemes given the success the former Mississippi State coach has had with Dak Prescott and Nick Fitzgerald.
Mullen became the Gators’ head coach not long after the conclusion of the 2017 season. The former Florida offensive coordinator (under Ohio State coach Urban Meyer) indirectly replaces Jim McElwain, who parted ways with the school in October.
