Ford Unveils Redesigned Focus

Ford Motor Co. (F) unveiled the remodeled 2015 Focus – with a novel design and advanced technology – at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The 2015 Ford Focus will offer customers an enhanced driving experience with higher fuel efficiency, comfort and safety. It will hit the market in the second half of 2014.

The latest Ford Focus scores high on the style quotient with refurbished exteriors and lightings. It will be available in four-door and five-door versions in the U.S. The interior boasts a modern look and the storage space has been adequately expanded. The new Ford Focus is also equipped with a new shock absorber valve design which helps reduce noise in the car.

Technology wise, the new Focus is more advanced than the previous version. The driver-assist technologies – which include a rearview camera, an available Blind Spot Information System (:BLIS) and a lane-keeping system – highlight the enhanced features of the vehicle.

The new car also features an award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine with a six-speed transmission. The EcoBoost engine ensures higher fuel efficiency and boasts better performance in comparison to gasoline engines. In the U.S., the EcoBoost engine is also available in Fiesta.

Europe has been witnessing a rising demand for the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. As a result, Ford has doubled the production capacity in the Cologne, Germany plant to more than 1,000 engines per day. This year, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost accounted for about 32% of the new Focus sales and 26% of Fiesta sales in Europe.

Ford Focus also features the industry-leading SYNC AppLink, which helps customers access and control over 60 smartphone apps including TuneIn, NPR and iHeartRadio. SYNC AppLink is accessible on both iOS and Android platforms through voice command.

Currently, Ford carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Better-ranked automobile stocks worth considering are Tesla Motors, Inc. (TSLA), Tata Motors Limited (TTM) and Daimler AG (DDAIF). All these stocks sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
