Former Blackstone executive Bennett Goodman launches firm to invest in asset managers

·1 min read

Oct 30 (Reuters) - Bennett Goodman, a former Blackstone Group Inc board member and co-founder of its credit business, has launched his own firm to buy minority stakes in alternative asset managers such as private equity and real estate investment firms, according to a statement on Friday.

Goodman, who co-founded GSO Capital in 2005 and sold the firm to Blackstone in 2008, formed Hunter Point Capital together with Avi Kalichstein, a former managing director at Boston-based asset manager Easterly Partners.

Prior to stepping down from his role at Blackstone last year, Goodman ran GSO Capital, which currently has about $135 billion in assets under management. Goodman remains a Blackstone senior advisor and chairman of GSO's business development company. (Reporting by Chibuike Oguh in New York; Editing by Cynthia Osterman)
