The X Factor's original (and only) Female Boss™, Tulisa Contostavlos, has revealed why she stepped away from the spotlight – and has even addressed those rumours of an X Factor return.

While appearing on today's (August 16) Good Morning Britain, Tulisa opened up about the recent "drama" of her personal life, admitting that her break from showbiz was "calculated".

As well as reflecting on the "ups and downs" of fame, Tulisa shared her hopes of a "fresh start" following the 'Fake Sheikh' fallout.

"Part of it was calculated, because at the time... all people were seeing when they [saw] Tulisa was all the drama that had happened," she explained. "It felt like the right thing to do for myself and publicly, so when I come back, it's like a fresh start and you get to see a new me."

The former N-Dubz singer also revealed she is open to returning to The X Factor, which she joined as a judge in 2011 before quitting the series in 2013.

"It's definitely something I wouldn't write off. And it's incredible, I loved being part of helping people with their careers from Little Mix to Ella Henderson," Tulisa said.

"It's something that I love and enjoy doing."

Petition for Tulisa to return to The X Factor, anyone? There are two series to choose from this year, after all.

The X Factor will return to ITV later this year. Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
