SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - Mar 27, 2014) - EVIDENCE.com, a business unit of TASER (NASDAQ: TASR) today announced the order of 400 of AXON flex body-worn video cameras (including 20 free spares) with five years of EVIDENCE.com service by Fort Worth Police Department. This order was received and expected to ship in the first half of 2014.

"The Fort Worth Police Department has added another 400 AXON flex cameras to their inventory of 195 previously purchased AXON cameras," said Fort Worth Chief Jeffrey W. Halstead. "With more than 600 cameras to be deployed in the near future, we realize this technology is a game changer for all of law enforcement. We have built a stronger foundation of public trust while making our profession more transparent for our citizens. This technology has proven to be invaluable for our Officers. Utilizing EVIDENCE.com as the cloud storage solution provides safety and security of the evidence that is unmatched."

"With this large follow up order by the Fort Worth Police Department of AXON flex cameras, this major metropolitan area is leading what we believe is the next major wave in public safety," said Rick Smith, CEO and founder of TASER. "Chief Halstead is on the leading edge of the trend that thought leaders in law enforcement are predicting -- that body-worn video cameras will become standard equipment within the next 5-10 years.

"Re-orders from customers are a critical indicator in new markets. These program expansions strongly support that this new technology is proving both practical and effective, delivering real world benefits. Across the country, agencies that deploy our AXON camera systems have seen reduction in use of force and reduction in complaints. A Cambridge University study on AXON flex cameras has proven the benefits of on-officer video. Our law enforcement partners have also deployed TASER's cloud-based EVIDENCE.com system that offers the most cost-effective method of implementing their program. We are delighted that agencies like Fort Worth are finding EVIDENCE.com provides a secure, cost effective data vault that allows their officers to focus on policing, rather than worrying about the technical complexities of data management," concluded Smith.
