Fredriksen's Seatankers appoints Svelland as CEO

·1 min read

OSLO, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Norway's Seatankers Group, controlled by billionaire John Fredriksen and his family, appointed Tor Andre Svelland, 53, as its chief executive, the company said on Friday.

The group has controlling interests in a number of companies listed on the Oslo stock exchange, including the world's largest farmed salmon producer Mowi, tanker firm Frontline and offshore driller Seadrill.

"His vast and long experience as a manager and trader from various commodity markets, finance and not at least shipping, will fit perfectly into our group," Fredriksen said in a statement.

Svelland is currently the chief executive at UK-based hedge fund Svelland Capital, focused on shipping and various commodity markets, and has previously worked at Trafigura and Goldman Sachs. (Reporting by Nerijus Adomaitis; editing by Jason Neely)
