SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) _ Freshpet Inc. (FRPT) on Monday reported a loss of $5.7 million in its second quarter.
The Secaucus, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 16 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 8 cents per share.
The seller of refrigerated fresh pet food posted revenue of $60.1 million in the period, beating Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $60 million.
Freshpet shares have risen 32% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $42.53, a climb of 45% in the last 12 months.
