MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. (AP) _ FS Bancorp Inc. (FSBW) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $4.1 million.

The bank, based in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, said it had earnings of $1.07 per share. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions, were $1.16 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.12 per share.

The bank holding company posted revenue of $20.4 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $17.7 million, which did not meet Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $18 million.

FS Bancorp shares have declined 20 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $43.91, a fall of 17 percent in the last 12 months.
