Funeral held for murdered Duxbury children as mother Lindsay Clancy awaits arraignment
A funeral was held on Friday for three Duxbury children who were allegedly killed by their mother, Lindsay Clancy, last month.
Five-year-old Cora Clancy, 3-year-old Dawson Clancy and 8-month-old Callan Clancy were found inside their Duxbury home on Jan. 24. The two older children were pronounced dead at the hospital that night, and the youngest child died on Jan. 27.
The funeral for the children was held on Friday at St. Mary of the Nativity in Scituate. Rev. Bob Deehan of Holy Family Church in Duxbury presided over the service.
“It was a beautiful funeral mass, but it’s very, very difficult,” he said.
Just days before Lindsay Clancy is set to be arraigned for the murders of her young children, her lawyer revealed new details on Friday of the struggles he says she and her family were facing in the months, weeks, and days leading up to the deaths. Authorities say Lindsay strangled her children before trying to take her own life.
At Plymouth District Court, Redding successfully petitioned the court to allow a defense forensic psychologist to evaluate Lindsay at the hospital where she is confined. Reddington said he is considering mounting an involuntary intoxication defense.
Her husband and father of the children, Patrick Clancy, had gone out for approximately 20 minutes to pick up medications and dinner, attorney Kevin Reddington said. Patrick Clancy found his wife outside the home on Summer Street and called 911 at about 6:10 p.m. on Jan. 24.
Lindsay Clancy is facing two counts of murder and three counts each of strangulation and assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Upgraded charges are expected after the death of Callan.
Patrick Clancy released a statement over the weekend asking people to forgive his wife.
“I want to ask all of you that you find it deep within yourselves to forgive Lindsay, as I have. The real Lindsay was generously loving and caring towards everyone - me, our kids, family, friends, and her patients,” Patrick Clancy wrote in a statement that was posted Saturday to a GoFundMe page that is taking donations for the family. “The very fibers of her soul are loving. All I wish for her now is that she can somehow find peace.”
A group of employees at Massachusetts General Hospital who worked alongside Lindsay Clancy says she had been an “amazing mother, nurse, and friend” prior to last week’s tragedy that rattled several South Shore communities.
“As we move forward and strive to provide the best care for our mothers and babies, as Lindsay always had, we continue to share stories and memories of what an amazing mother, nurse, and friend Lindsay was to us all. We are a family. Lindsay was an incredible asset to that family that we will forever appreciate and love,” the 32-year-old mother’s “MGH Family” wrote in a GoFundMe post that included a $5,125 donation to her husband, Patrick Clancy.

Her co-workers added, “The halls may be quiet, but our hearts are speaking loudly in support of Patrick, Lindsay, and your entire family. We offer you this donation in addition to a promise to continue to share the wonderful stories about Lindsay, your babies, and the light that she brought to her patients in their most vulnerable times. We send you so much love and healing, and hope you know just how much her MGH family supports you all.”
The GoFundMe for Patrick Clancy has raised over $1 million behind more than 15,000 donations.
Lindsay will be arraigned next week on murder charges, court officials said Friday.
