BEDMINSTER, N.J. (AP) _ Gain Capital Holdings Inc. (GCAP) on Thursday reported a third-quarter loss of $2.1 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
The Bedminster, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were 7 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.
The provider of online trading services posted revenue of $66.7 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $66.7 million, also missing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $68.9 million.
In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $4.57. A year ago, they were trading at $7.42.
