Last week Samsung confirmed it will release its heavily redesigned Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus on March 29th, but now we know when you will actually be able to buy it…
South Korea’s English language business news service The Investor reports Samsung will open pre-orders for both phones on April 10th - just under two weeks after their unveiling. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will then go on sale on April 21st. Interestingly these dates match exactly with information I reported last month.

Furthermore the timescales here make sense. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge broke the mould when Samsung released the phones on March 11th, leading some to claim the company’s 2017 models are late. Instead they actually see Samsung return to its traditional April release strategy.
The Galaxy S6, S5 and S4 all went on sale in April on the 10th, 11th and 27th respectively. Before this Galaxy smartphones were launched during the middle of the year and Samsung wisely decided back then to give itself greater space between Galaxy launches and iPhone launches.

And if you had hoped Samsung would stick to the earlier Galaxy S7 March time frame, don’t worry about the extra wait because a) you’ll need more time to save up, and b) the significant design changes look set to make them one of the biggest talking points of smartphones in 2017.
In fact the only concern I have with both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus from what we know so far is their idiotically placed fingerprint sensors. I highly doubt this alone will stop them from selling like hot cakes and they’ll need to given Apple’s own grand iPhone redesign plans…
