The Design and Development track at GameDaily Connect USA will focus specifically on how design and development principles synergize across various media and industry practices to create engaging content for different types of consumers. Whether it’s insight into how to keep a long-running franchise current across genres and audiences, or the importance of adapting in a constantly evolving industry, our panels will have you covered.

The Halo franchise is one of the longest running IPs in both the games and related multimedia industries. We’re talking novellas, television shows, and delivery of some of the franchise’s unique and core branding across a variety of different platforms. As a developer, there are plenty of lessons to be learned here about ensuring the longevity of IP and how to consistently capture the attention of audiences across generations, and what the future looks like for similarly-sized brands in terms of integrating with new technologies.

Kiki Wolfkill, Studio Head of Halo Transmedia and Entertainment at 343 Industries will be joined by GameDaily.biz’s very own Editor-In-Chief, Amanda Farough, to discuss how the Halo team has dealt with the challenges of keeping a two-decade old series relevant and continually engaging across multiple avenues outside of the games industry.

For those who have a distinct interest in online worlds, then Raph Koster will be an instantly recognizable name. While Koster is currently an independent designer, he’s famous for being attached to Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies, as well as his time at Sony Online Entertainment. Whether it’s the commercial aspect of maintaining and creating online words, or the creative aspect involved in ensuring that players remain tapped in and incentivised to create to these unique ecosystems, Koster’s panel on the evolution of online worlds will be an enlightening one.

The design and development track at this year’s GameDaily connect will also cover a whole variety of other topics pertinent to the sensibilities of putting out a game, including a highly-anticipated panel on outsourcing helmed by Brian Moore, the Art Outsourcing Manager of Insomniac Games, which will focus specifically on concerns that developers may have when trying to find the best third party for a particular job. Check out our list of panelists to see who else will be speaking at this event.

GameDaily Connect USA will run from August 27-29, so get your tickets soon!
