Garcelle Beauvais knows better than anyone that things have gotten a little too dark on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season.

The longtime entertainer has been in the thick of it with the rest of her cast on Season 12, and while the ratings for the show remain high, fatigue with the seriousness of the storylines involving Erika Jayne’s legal troubles and c is starting to show. And Beauvais knows that.

In an interview for the latest episode of In The Know’s pop culture interview series, We Should Talk, to promote her partnership with Febreze, Garcelle Beauvais opened up about her approach to the show and what she’d like to see happen going forward, about feeling the love from fans after releasing her book Love Me as I Am, about looking back at her time on The Real and on the importance of making her home an inviting space.

On what changed for her on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season and what she hopes to see on the show going forward: I can’t put my finger on it. I’ve always been honest and upfront. I don’t go into the seasons with anything in mind other than I just want to show up and I want to be present, and if I have to call someone out, do so. I don’t go with any strategy other than wanting to be myself, but I do feel like something clicked this season, and I don’t really know what it is. But I want to have more fun! I want us to have more fun on the show. I want us to talk about each other’s ugly leather pants, you know what I mean? [Laughs.] I don’t think it needs to be so deep all the time. God allowing, next season we can have more fun.

On The Real getting canceled earlier this year: I knew the other women felt [the love]. They were babies! Adrienne [Bailon] was a baby when she started that show, but I was happy that I was able to contribute for two seasons. I’m sorry it ended. I really, really loved that platform, and I hope I get there again on another show, or maybe my own show one day. That would be another bucket list [item]. I really enjoyed the time that I was on, for sure. It’s remarkable that they had eight seasons.

On her partnership with Febreze for its new scent styling concept: It’s so important to me [when it comes to home decor]! It’s more important than anything, because if you come into my house, when you first walk in, it’ll be the Febreze AIR Ember. It’s inviting and energizing, and it just makes you feel like you belong. If you go in other rooms, I have other scents. That’s why I love the whole concept of scent styling, because I’d never thought of it, but it’s so important what you feel, because when you smell something, it can take you back to a memory or a mood or [something] calming. I love the idea of scent styling.

On inviting a spiritual healer over before the RHOBH reunion: Right before the reunion, I had a spiritual friend of mine come over, and we prayed and did crystals. Then I said, “I want you to come upstairs to my bedroom. I have so many crystals, and I want you to tell me if I have the wrong ones together.” She walks into my bedroom and she goes, “Oh! Your love corner is a mess!” [Laughs.] I was like, “Hellooo!” The love corner is the side I sleep on. It’s the farthest one when you walk into your room, where I have crystals and things I write with and my eye mask and bottles of water and an old picture that an ex-boyfriend gave me. She was like, “Oh, no, your love corner is a mess!”
