OPKO Health Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Chairman & CEO Phillip Frost bought US$1.2m worth of shares at a price of US$1.29 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$1.85), we still think insider buying is a positive. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

While OPKO Health insiders bought shares during the last year, they didn't sell. The average buy price was around US$2.01. I'd consider this a positive as it suggests insiders see value at around the current price. Does OPKO Health Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. OPKO Health insiders own 43% of the company, currently worth about US$617m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
