GE (GE) is freezing pensions for about 20,000 American employees with salaried benefits in an attempt to reduce its debt. The move will also affect supplementary pension benefits for about 700 workers. The company says the changes could help reduce its pension deficit as much as $8 billion.
Analysts are turning bullish on SmileDirectClub (SDC) despite that rocky IPO. A slew of analyst recommendations are out today -- with Bank of America, Guggenheim, Citi and Jeffries rating the stock a buy. JP Morgan is the most bullish with a $31/share price target. Most of the others are in the $18-to-$24 range.
A deadline is fast approaching for compensation from PG&E (PCG). Victims of last year’s deadly wildfires only have about three weeks to file claims. Nearly 30,000 people have already filed for money from the utility’s bankruptcy, but as many as 70,000 people eligible for compensation have yet to put in a claim.
Football fans can breath a sigh of relief. Fox (FOX) and Dish Network (DISH) have come to a "multi-year carriage agreement" after a 10-day outage prevented subscribers from watching any of Fox's NFL games. The outage affected many Fox channels, including its local stations and Fox Sports, forcing customers to miss 2 Thursday Night Football games, and 1 NFL Sunday game.
Disney’s (DIS) ABC is giving viewers a first look at "The Little Mermaid LIVE!" that will air on November 5th. A 30-second promo featured the new face of Ariel, Auli’i Cravalho, and some familiar faces including Queen Latifah, Shaggy and John Stamos.The special will include live musical performances spliced between the broadcast of the original film.
