GE reports, United sinks, Texas Instruments profit slumps

Let’s check out the Yahoo Finance charts of the day.

General Electric (GE): Shares are reversing here in early trading, down around 3%. GE posted a wide loss for the quarter, although it did stick to its full-year profit forecast, which many analysts feared it wouldn’t. Also weighing on the stock: The SEC has opened a probe into GE’s accounting.

United Continental Holdings (UAL): Shares are getting hit in midday trading, down around 12%. The reason? United said it vows to match low fares from its competitors and expand capacity. Investors fear already tight margins will be squeezed even further.

Texas Instruments (TXN): Shares are also dropping here in early trading, down approximately 7%. The largest maker of analog chips offered a sales forecast that missed estimates because of weak demand from mobile handset manufacturers.
