'General Hospital' star Tyler Christopher arrested for public intoxication on his birthday
Tyler Christopher certainly won't forget his 47th birthday.
According to multiple reports, the longtime "General Hospital" and "Days of Our Lives" actor was arrested on public intoxication charges in Martinsville, Indiana, on Monday, which happened to also be his 47th birthday.
According to TMZ, Christopher's arrest followed "an alarming bender that possibly went on for weeks," with the outlet reporting that police had received not less than nine calls about the actor being publicly intoxicated since September 14, including one that resulted in a brief stay at a medical center for advanced treatment.
His arrest on Monday night came the same day that he reportedly checked himself out of the facility on his birthday "against medical advice," TMZ reports, with cops being alerted to Christopher's drunken state by an Uber driver who called them to report that the actor had passed out and urinated in the back seat of his car. He also reportedly had two fifths of bourbon on him at the time of his arrest.
The actor was reportedly being held at the Morgan County Jail on a $225 cash and $1,000 bond. He was seemingly still behind bars as of Wednesday morning. In his mug shot, which was also published by TMZ, the actor appears disheveled with a gash on the bridge of his nose. Since his time in the spotlight, he has also grown a thick beard.
Tyler Christopher is best known for appearing on two major soap operas for two decades each: He played Stefan O. DiMera on "Days of Our Lives" from 2001 until 2019 and appeared on "General Hospital" between 1996 and 2016. His most recent big public appearance came at the 2019 Daytime Emmy Awards back in May.
Christopher was married to fellow former soap opera star Eva Longoria from 2002 until 2004. He has two children: Son Greysun James with current wife Brienne Pedigo, who he wed in 2008, and a daughter named Boheme, People reports.
