NEW YORK (AP) -- The price of oil fell Monday as global economic news took a back seat to uncertainty about the looming fiscal cliff in the U.S.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange:
Benchmark crude fell 50 cents to finish at $85.57 per barrel.
Heating oil dropped less than a penny to end at $2.9992 per gallon.
Gasoline futures fell 2.29 cents to finish at $2.6763 per gallon.
Natural gas rose 6.7 cents to end at $3.57 per 1,000 cubic feet.
On the ICE Futures exchange in London:
Brent crude fell 33 cents to finish the day at $109.07 per barrel.
