Glory target Cahill-inspired City

Having notched their first win of the A-League season, Perth Glory will turn their attention to high-flyers Melbourne City

Josh Risdon is confident Perth Glory can come up with a plan to stop a Tim Cahill-inspired Melbourne City when the two sides clash in the A-League on Friday night.

Glory will head to AAMI Park this week in a confident mood after notching their first win of the season on Sunday, disposing of Wellington Phoenix 2-0.

But City were even more impressive 24 hours earlier in their 4-1 demolition of Melbourne Victory.

"Melbourne City are obviously in very good form and they have got some very good attacking players," Risdon told Fox Sports after Perth's win.

"We're going to have to be on our best.

"We have a short turnaround to Friday but we'll have a look at their game. I'm sure the coaching staff will work some things out to try and stop some of their players."

But Glory's attacking stars also look to be finding some ominous form after producing some silky football in the win over Phoenix.

After a goalless first half at nib Stadium, Perth's class shone through after the break and they ensured their first three points of the campaign thanks to a Diego Castro penalty and a rocket from Nebojsa Marinkovic.

"They [Wellington] came out firing but we were probably a little bit asleep," Risdon said.

"It gave us a kick that we needed to get back into the game. Lucky we didn't concede early and we got back into it and started playing our game and started creating some chances.

"If we can get our defence right and keep a clean sheet like we did [against Phoenix] then we know we have the firepower up front to score the goals."
