On a per-share basis, the Rockville, Maryland-based company said it had a loss of 36 cents.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 34 cents per share.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $31.8 million, or $1.50 per share. Revenue was reported as $18,000.
GlycoMimetics shares have risen nearly 3 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 38 percent in the last 12 months.
