The American automaker will close its Opel plant in Bochum, Germany, in '16 after ending production of its Zafira Tourer car, according to the BBC. More than 3,000 people worked at the German plant; it may keep some workers at its warehouse in Bochum, which will stay open. General Motors (GM) said the decision came due to the slowdown of car sales in Europe. GM believes it will lose more than $1.5 bil on its operations in Europe this year. Shares fell 0.4% to 25.28.
