Gogo moving headquarters, 460 employees to Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) -- Gogo, which provides in-flight wireless access, is moving its headquarters and commercial aviation business to Chicago from the city's suburbs.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced Wednesday that Gogo will move more than 460 employees to its new downtown location. The company also expects to add more than 50 jobs over the next two years.

According to a statement from Gogo and the mayor's office, Gogo provides wireless connectivity to more than 2,000 commercial aircraft and communication services to more than 6,000 business aircraft.

Gogo's current headquarters and commercial aviation business are in Itasca. Its business aviation business is in suburban Denver.

Gogo President and CEO Michael Small says it's clear Chicago and Illinois have "made considerable efforts to raise Chicago's profile as a technology hub."
