TORONTO (AP) _ New Gold Inc. (NGD) on Thursday reported a loss of $728.4 million in its fourth quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had a loss of $1.26. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, came to 4 cents per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 1 cent per share.
The gold mining company posted revenue of $157.4 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $1.23 billion, or $2.12 per share. Revenue was reported as $604.5 million.
The company's shares closed at $1.21. A year ago, they were trading at $2.64.
