Gwyneth Paltrow's Oscars transformation: See all of her Academy Awards gowns through the years

Even the most stylish of stars sometimes miss the mark on Hollywood's biggest night!

Gwyneth Paltrow first snagged an invite to the Academy Awards in 1996, when she attended alongside then-boyfriend Brad Pitt. Wearing a simple ivory spaghetti-strap gown, it was the world's introduction to Gwyneth before she became a household name.

Two years later, Gwyneth was dominating the Oscars red carpet in a pink princess gown still known as one of the most memorable Academy Awards looks of all time. Good thing she looked amazing -- she took home her coveted Best Actress statue that night!

But Gwyneth has at times underwhelmed at the Oscars. The year after her big win, she arrived on the red carpet in an unflattering silver gown that bunched up the wrong places. And in 2002, her Gothic-inspired black and mesh ensemble seemed totally inconsistent with her personality.

Maybe she was just going through a phase, because by 2007, Gwyneth had reclaimed her spot as one of the best-dressed at the Academy Awards. Her taupe cap-sleeved gown was topped only by her 2011 look, a sleek metallic column gown that was one of her best fashion choices ever.

Take a look at Gwyneth's Oscars transformation in the gallery above, and below, see how fellow blonde starlet Nicole Kidman has changed over the years.
