If there's one thing Gwyneth Paltrow knows, it's how to make headlines. And this time, it's not the jade eggs or the vagina candles that are doing it, instead it's her home, which she recently toured fans round in a new YouTube video. As you would expect from Gwyneth the tour prompted a pretty strong - and in some cases, savage - reaction from fans.
In a recent feature with Architectural Digest the Goop founder toured fans around the California home she shares with husband Brad Fulchuk. And while we were all obviously expecting some kind of over-the-top wellness centre (The Nine Perfect Strangers house basically), fans were pretty surprised by what we actually got.
"The strength of the house is in the subtleties of light and space," Paltrow told AD. "We spent a lot of time assessing family patterns, how we really live, what makes us most comfortable. The focus was on the experience, the emotion."
Unsurprisingly, almost as soon as the tour was posted people began flooding Instagram and YouTube with their thoughts on the space, and they were very mixed.
While there were plenty of fans who loved the home, calling it "gorgeous" and "polished" there were also a fair few who didn't love it quite as much.
Some called the space, "boring", "over-designed" and "lifeless", while others had some even more brutal comments on the decor.
"Do you know what this place lacks? A soul," one person wrote. "Am I a fool to find it a bit tacky and kind of uncomfortable space-wise?" someone else said, and a third commented, "A little boring and uninspired to me 😴 I didn’t even make it through the whole youtube video."
In particular people seemed to have a lot of strong feelings over the 'Avant Garde' print on the wall of the living room, with one person writing, "It’s not avant-garde if you have to say it is," and another commenting, "'avant garde' on the wall oh I lost it😂 ."
Yikes. Well, as long as Gwyneth likes it, that's all that matters!
