NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) _ Heartland Express Inc. (HTLD) on Thursday reported first-quarter earnings of $17.3 million.
On a per-share basis, the North Liberty, Iowa-based company said it had profit of 21 cents.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 19 cents per share.
The trucking and logistics company posted revenue of $139.5 million in the period, which fell short of Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $149 million.
Heartland Express shares have risen 6 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 4.5 percent in the last 12 months.
