Now, specific money managers have been driving this bullishness. Chilton Investment Company, managed by Richard Chilton, created the most outsized position in Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU). Chilton Investment Company had $53.3 million invested in the company at the end of the quarter. Joel Greenblatt's Gotham Asset Management also made a $46.3 million investment in the stock during the quarter. As you can see these stocks had an average of 28.5 hedge funds with bullish positions and the average amount invested in these stocks was $1477 million. That figure was $2203 million in INTU's case. Becton, Dickinson and Company (NYSE:BDX) is the most popular stock in this table. On the other hand Vale SA (NYSE:VALE) is the least popular one with only 21 bullish hedge fund positions. Compared to these stocks Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) is more popular among hedge funds. Our calculations showed that top 20 most popular stocks among hedge funds returned 24.4% in 2019 through September 30th and outperformed the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) by 4 percentage points. Hedge funds were also right about betting on INTU, though not to the same extent, as the stock returned 1.9% during the third quarter and outperformed the market as well.
