HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) _ Helen of Troy Ltd. (HELE) on Tuesday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $3.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Hamilton, Bermuda-based company said it had a loss of 13 cents. Earnings, adjusted for asset impairment costs and amortization costs, came to $1.88 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.65 per share.
The personal and household products company posted revenue of $442.4 million in the period.
For the year, the company reported profit of $152.3 million, or $6.02 per share. Revenue was nearly unchanged at $1.56 billion.
Helen of Troy shares have decreased 17% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $148.36, a rise of 29% in the last 12 months.
