James Corden needed somebody for Carpool Karaoke. Not just anybody. So he called on Sir Paul McCartney.

Fans have been given a first look at the Beatles legend’s appearance on the popular Late Late Show skit as the US chat show transfers across the pond for a UK special.

Corden teased McCartney’s appearance on Twitter in a video showing him reciting the lyrics to Beatles hit Help! before the 18-time-Grammy Award winner jumped in the driving seat.

The duo cruised around Liverpool as they belted out Drive My Car before switching seats.

Fans were left speechless by the teaser with one posting: “Holy moly!!!!!!!! Is this real life? I love @PaulMcCartney :) So excited!”

Another tweeted: “I can’t even imagine what it must have felt like to film it. He’s truly a legend, and this carpool will forever go down as one of the most special.”

McCartney joins a host of famous faces including Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Adele, Sir Elton John and Justin Bieber who have all taken part in the chat show segment.

The full video will air later this week on The Late Late Show with James Corden in London on Sky One.

The former Gavin and Stacey star has invited guests including Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom and Niall Horan to join him.

The Late Late Show with James Corden in London is on Sky One tonight at 10pm
