No matter how you look at it, holiday travel is stressful, especially if you’re flying. AAA predicted that 5.8 million Americans flew during last year’s holiday season, which means long lines at security and even longer waits in the taxi line.
But there is one bright spot in all of the travel chaos.
American Express (AXP) and Uber have partnered to give travelers free rides home from the airport this holiday season. From now until midnight on Dec. 31, all American Express cardholders can enjoy two free Uber rides home from select US airports. Each ride can cost up to $65. If the trip goes over $65, the remaining balance will be charged to your Amex. You can use the deal twice through Dec. 31.
To redeem the free rides, users must enter the code AMEXAIRPORT in their Uber app before requesting a driver. After selecting an American Express card as payment, you can confirm your pick-up. Who says there are no free rides?
Of course, the caveat here is that this sweet freebie is only available at 11 airports, including:
LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
McCarran International Airport (LAS)
George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
There are also some restrictions for card users. Any American Express cardmember with a credit or charge card can use the promotional code. Prepaid cards are not eligible.
As for Uber, all services are included in this promotion. So feel free to order an uberPOOL, UberX, or UberBLACK to ride home in style.
