Here’s What the iPhone 6 Might Look Like (if the Leaks Are True)

This fall, Apple is expected to launch a larger, 4.7-inch-screened follow-up to last year’s iPhone 5s. Supposed designs of this “iPhone 6” have hit the Web in the form of alleged schematics and digital renderings based upon those schematics.

But that’s old news. Here comes a mocked-up iPhone 6 that you can actually hold.

Yes, a physical model, strikingly similar-looking to those leaked image renderings, has popped up on YouTube, finally giving us an honest-to-goodness idea of what the device may look like … maybe … if all these other leaks eventually prove to be accurate.

Video of this iPhone 6 model was posted to French blog NowhereElse.fr and shows a thin, white, iPhoneish-looking device, with famous home button and rear Apple Logo in tow. It’s packing what looks to be a screen measuring about 4.7 inches, though the folks at NowhereElse.fr admit that it’s hard to tell.

(At this point, we should point out that NowhereElse.fr does not have an accurate track record when it comes to predicting Apple devices. It’s one of those sites that spews out every rumor, spraying them around in case one sticks. So take this report with the recommended grain of salt.)

On this model, the power button has been moved to the side of the phone so that there won’t be any need to climb to the top of the now-larger device to turn it off. The familiar Lightning port and headphone plug remain on the bottom. The edges of the device are also rounded, a commonality thus far in many of the leaks surrounding the device.

From the looks of things in the video, the (dummy) phone doesn’t appear to be terribly difficult to hold and operate with one hand, something Apple would no doubt tout as a +1 on Samsung, LG, and HTC, makers of flagship smartphones with displays of 5 inches or larger. Although critics of the iPhone have said the phone’s 4-inch display has been too small for too long, some consider the 5-inch panels on popular Android phones to be unwieldy.

Though this video is branded as “The real iPhone 6 hands on,” the team at NowhereElse.fr cautions that they are “still not convinced of the reliability” of the model’s design accuracy and warn that it’s also possible this could be an early version of a Chinese copy. We echo the sentiment, and would say the same goes for most leaks and rumors.
