  • CBS This Morning viewers are asking what happened to Norah O'Donnell after she was absent on the morning show.

  • Norah had to undergo an emergency appendectomy last Friday.

  • At the moment, she is in South Carolina and is planning on returning to New York City "later this week."

  • Reports have indicated that Norah may be moving to CBS Evening News, though this has not been confirmed by the network.

If you've been wondering where CBS This Morning anchor Norah O'Donnell has been lately, we have the answer from the TV star herself.

As revealed on her Instagram stories last Friday, Norah's spring break plans in South Carolina went awry when she suddenly had to be taken to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy (her appendix ruptured). Thankfully, The Post and Courier reports that she was released later that day after her operation was deemed successful.

Norah documented the whole ordeal, showing some of the moments before she went into surgery:

Norah's husband, Geoff Tracy, also took time to tweet about the incident, and let the anchor's fans know that she was doing just fine. In response to Geoff's tweets, many hoped Norah would "get well soon" and "heal up quickly."

So when will Norah come back to CBS This Morning? The reporter is keeping us up to date on her health on Instagram, and shared on Monday that she was hoping to return to New York City "later this week." It's unclear, though, if she'll be on the show right away or will take some time to rest when she makes it back to New York.

"Thank you for all the kind texts and emails," she wrote on Instagram before thanking her parents and the nurses and surgeons who took care of her. "I’m down an organ, but learned some valuable lessons this week."

Norah's surgery comes just weeks after Variety claimed that executives of the morning show were considering a new anchor lineup for the program.

It's rumored that Norah's co-star John Dickerson is poised to take on a new role at 60 Minutes. Meanwhile, Norah might be moving to the anchor seat of CBS Evening News. CBS has declined to comment on this report, but don't be too surprised if a shakeup at the morning show comes really soon.

For now though, we just hope to see Norah on our TV screens really, really soon.
