DALLAS (AP) _ Hilltop Holdings Inc. (HTH) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $57.8 million.
The Dallas-based bank said it had earnings of 62 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 38 cents per share.
The insurance holding compnay posted revenue of $462.9 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $420.7 million, which also beat Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $380.8 million.
Hilltop Holdings shares have increased 26% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $22.51, a climb of slightly more than 2% in the last 12 months.
