Home Depot (HD) Outpaces Stock Market Gains: What You Should Know

Home Depot (HD) closed at $277.75 in the latest trading session, marking a +0.79% move from the prior day. The stock outpaced the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.77%. At the same time, the Dow lost 0.08%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 2.01%.

Coming into today, shares of the home-improvement retailer had lost 5.09% in the past month. In that same time, the Retail-Wholesale sector lost 3.99%, while the S&P 500 gained 2.11%.

Investors will be hoping for strength from HD as it approaches its next earnings release, which is expected to be November 17, 2020. The company is expected to report EPS of $3.05, up 20.55% from the prior-year quarter. Meanwhile, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for revenue is projecting net sales of $31.67 billion, up 16.33% from the year-ago period.
