Grants will help support veteran-focused programs
HomeServe USA, a leading provider of home repair solutions, is launching another solicitation for its HomeServe Cares Foundation “Caring for Community” grant program. The initiative awards grants to non-profits and municipalities to support community-based programs. In honor of this month’s celebration of Veteran’s Day, HomeServe is focusing this round on programs and projects dedicated to improving the quality of life for veterans and their families.
Veterans are a vital part of the community, but they often find it challenging to find the support they need to transition from military to civilian life. HomeServe has worked to create opportunities for veterans through its Veterans Recruitment Initiative, which helps them to launch post-military careers in the plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades.
Driven by the mission to support those who served, the HomeServe Cares Foundation will award grants to two organizations in this round to address in-home accessibility, homelessness issues, counseling services or job training for veterans. Applications will be accepted beginning November 18, 2019 and are due by December 20, 2019, and will be assessed based on impact, execution and innovation. Since launching the Caring for Community grant program in April 2019, the HomeServe Cares Foundation has awarded six grants to organizations around the U.S. The most recent round of grants were awarded to non-profits in Denver, Colorado, Kansas City, Kansas and Columbus, Ohio, whose efforts focus on aging in place for senior citizens. The inaugural round of grants, announced in July, were awarded to a non-profit organization to improve facilities in a residence for developmentally disabled adults in Rochester, New York, and one to the City of Tampa Florida to install ADA compliant mats to make beach fronts more accessible.
