The HGTV community is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Suzanne Whang, the former host of House Hunters, has died following her 13-year battle with cancer. She passed away on Tuesday night, according to a post her partner, Jeff Vezain, shared on her Facebook page.

“A lifetime of love, adventure, humor and bliss now lives in our memories,” he said. “For thirteen years she confronted cancer with courage, humor, determination and optimism.”

He continued, “I know she would prefer that her life be celebrated, as opposed to her passing mourned, but I also know how vehemently she disagreed with anyone being told, ‘Don’t cry.’ So…cry if you will. I’ve been crying a LOT! And laughing…and everything in between.”

People reported that she was the voice of the popular HGTV series from 1999-2007. The network released a statement of their own about Suzanne and her lasting effect on viewers.

“Suzanne was warm, funny and kind with a distinctive voice that made everyone feel at home,” they wrote on Facebook. “Our HGTV family mourns her loss and wishes to express deepest condolences to her friends, fans and family who knew and loved her.”

Suzanne was open about her battle on social media, sharing updates on her health as well as the “sternum tumor” that “started growing by leaps and bounds,” according to a GoFundMe she created to help offset some costs. Though she was honest about the “brutal chapter” of her life, she was also optimistic and grateful for all who contributed.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the help that so many of you have already given me,” she said. “Thank you for sustaining me, in every way.”
