The Louvre isn't the only art offering available on Airbnb. A French property once owned by Impressionist artist Claude Monet is available to rent on the accommodation site, and it looks like the perfect retreat for art lovers to escape to.

Known as The Blue House, the pretty home was bought by Monet at the end of the 19th century "because the garden was ideal to cultivate the vegetables he loved to cook," says the Airbnb listing. It is located in the Normandy village of Giverny, where the artist lived for 43 years until his death in 1926.

The three-bedroom Blue House was completely renovated in 2016 and is surrounded by lush gardens. It has been furnished with a mix of "modern and antique" furniture and although it's in the quieter part of the village, the house is within walking distance of local shops and amenities.

A stay in this property wouldn't be complete without a visit to the nearby house that Monet lived in from 1890. It's home to the famous water garden and Japanese Bridge that inspired some of his most recognisable work, as well as his studio and his collection of Japanese prints.

If you're planning a cultural weekend away, the Blue House is available to rent from around £173, or roughly $224 in USD, per night, and guests can rent just one bedroom for a cheaper rate. Paris can be reached by train in just 40 minutes.
