How to Stream All of This Year’s Emmy-Nominated Shows

You may have heard that the 2014 Emmy award nominations were recently announced. And you’re probably eager to binge-watch as many shows as possible before the awards ceremony goes down on Aug. 25.

That being said, some of this year’s nominees are harder to stream than others. Below, an exhaustive guide of where you can and can’t watch all this excellent television.

(Please note: We’ve picked out the shows that have received multiple nominations and are available to watch online. But that doesn’t include all the nominees! See the full list here.)

The Big Bang Theory: A select number of episodes from Season 7 are available on the show’s website. Otherwise, you can purchase each episode à la carte or by the batch for $1.99 on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox, or VUDU.

Louie: You can watch pretty much every episode of Louie’s fourth season for free via the show’s website. The only catch? You have to have a login to a TV service provider that includes FX. Otherwise you’ll have to pay $1.99 per episode on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox, or VUDU. All the past seasons, however, are available on Netflix.

Modern Family:The lastfive of the 25 episodes of the latest season are available to stream on Hulu for free. Hulu Plus subscribers can watch them all. Otherwise, you can watch a few select episodes on the show’s site, or purchase them on Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU.

Orange Is the New Black: All the seasons are on Netflix and only on Netflix.

Silicon Valley:Anyone with an HBO GO login can stream the whole first season for free on the website. 

Veep: Those blessed with an HBO GO login can stream the whole third season. That or you can buy each episode for $1.99 on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU.

Breaking Bad: All the seasons, including the last, are available to watch on Netflix. Or you can purchase them for $2.99 an episode on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, or Xbox. Or for $1.99 on VUDU. And you can watch select Season 2 episodes for free on the show’s website if you have an AMC login.

Downton Abbey: Amazon Prime members can watch all four seasons of this PBS series free of charge, while anyone else will have to pay $1.99 an episode on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU.

Game of Thrones: Those with an HBO GO login are the only ones with access to the entire fourth season. The past seasons are on Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU for $2.99 each.

House of Cards: Stream both seasons on Netflix and Netflix only.

Mad Men: No free episodes are available on AMC’s website, but you can watch Seasons 1 through 6 on Netflix. Purchase episodes of “the first half” of Season 7, aka The Final Season, on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox or VUDU for $1.99. 

True Detective:Anyone with an HBO GO login can watch the whole first season free of charge. Episodes on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, Google Play, and VUDU start at $2.99.

The Newsroom: You can watch all of Seasons 1 and 2 with your HBO GO login. But if you’re looking for Season 2 anywhere else, you’re out of luck.

Masters of Sex:No free episodes are available on Showtime’s website, but you can buy episodes of the first season starting at $1.99 on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox and VUDU.

Homeland:You can watch all three past seasons with a Showtime login here. Unfortunately, no other provider is streaming the third season at the moment.

The Good Wife:You can watch the last three episodes of Season 5 for free on the CBS show’s site. All of Seasons 1 through 4 are available via Hulu Plus. But to get all of Season 5, you’ll have to pay $1.99 an episode on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox, or VUDU.

Scandal: You can watch some of the most recent episodes of Season 3 on Scandal’s website, or the last five on Hulu/Hulu Plus. And the entire series is available to stream on Netflix. Otherwise you’re able to buy individual episodes starting at $1.99 on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, and VUDU.

Ray Donovan: View all of Season 1 on the show’s website with a Showtime login. Or pay per episode on iTunes (starting at $2.99), or $1.99 on Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, or VUDU.

The Americans: You can’t view either season on the show’s website, but it’s available to purchase for $1.99 on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU.

House of Lies:You can watch the series’ Season 3 premiere for free on the Showtime website. But no major providers are streaming Season 3, not even in exchange for your hard-earned money! Darn.

Derek: View all of Seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix and Netflix only.

Episodes:You can have access to all three seasons of Episodes with a Showtime login. Otherwise watch it on iTunesAmazon Instant Video, or Google Play for $1.99 an episode.

Shameless:Again, this one will require a Showtime Anytime login. But once you’re in, you’ll have access to all four seasons. Unfortunately Season 4 isn’t available anywhere else.

Nurse Jackie: Check out the first episode of Season 6 for free on the Showtime website (or watch every single episode for free with a login). Unfortunately there’s no other way to see the whole season.

Mike & Molly: Watch the last couple of episodes of Season 4 for free on the show’s website (they’re the same as the ones available on Hulu). Or watch on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU for $1.99 an episode.

Parks & Recreation: You can stream Seasons 1 through 5 on Netflix, and all of Season 6 is available for free on Hulu. Li’l Sebastian would be proud. 

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Watch five episodes from the first season on the FOX website or Hulu. With Hulu Plus, you can watch all 22. Otherwise, pay $1.99 an episode on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU.

Portlandia: Though you can watch Seasons 1 through 3 on Netflix, Portlandia’s fourth season is available to download only on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, or Xbox for $1.99 an episode.

Mom: Watch the last five episodes of Season 1 on the show’s website for free. For the rest, pay $1.99 on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Xbox, or VUDU.

Inside Amy Schumer: Hulu Plus members can watch all of Season 2 at no charge. Otherwise, you can pay $1.99 per episode on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Xbox, or VUDU.
