H&R Block under pressure, Brown-Forman Corp gain on earnings, AutoNation approves buyback and Chico’s shares slide

Here’s a look at some of the stocks the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you today.

H&R Block (HRB) shares are under pressure after the tax preparer posted a wider-than-expected loss in its fiscal first quarter. Revenue, however, did rise 10% to $138 million, driven by tax preparation fees and sales from its Peace of Mind service plan.

Brown-Forman Corp (BF-A), the owner of Jack Daniels, is in focus this morning after reporting better-than-expected earnings and revenue. The company also raised is earnings outlook for the fiscal year.

Autonation (AN) is upping its share buyback plan. The company announced its board of directors authorized an additional $250 million for its share repurchase program.

Chico’s (CHS) shares are sinking after reporting a second-quarter profit miss and revenue in line with expectations.  Wall Street is also disappointed with the retailer’s comparable sales, which fell 8.4%, a bigger drop than analysts were expecting.
